A Complete Guide to Horary Astrology (With Horary Astrology Calculator)

nov 22, 2022 For newbie in astrology

In recent times, there have been more conversations about what Astrology is and how the position of celestial bodies can affect daily lives and certain situations. Astrology is a type of divination that predicts earthly events and human experiences through the observation and interpretation of the Sun, Moon, stars, and planets.

What is Horary Astrology

There are different branches of Astrology. One of these branches is Horary Astrology and that is the focus of this article. ‘Horary’ Is a Latin word that means ‘hour’, therefore, Horary Astrology is the spectrum of traditional astrology that attempts to answer specific questions by constructing a horoscope (astrological chart) based on the exact time and place a question is being asked and understood.

Horary Astrology generally deals with the “spur of the moment” and instead of looking at a Natal chart, a Horary chart is cast based on the very minute a querent asks a question.

Horary astrology can also answer questions about the distant past or future. It can set the timing of events up to 120 years forward and backward in time so questions on past and future relationships, work, school, family, and business can all be answered using a Horary chart.

However, to get the most accurate information in Horary Astrology, Asking the question and asking it in the right manner is critical.

Finding The Needful Answers With Horary Astrology

Horary Astrology is very critical and methodological. It entails the significators of the querent and the quesited, the considerations of the judgment, and finally, the appropriate interpretation of the Horary chart to get appropriate answers to questions.

To get the right answer to any question, you must first ask a specific question about a specific life situation. The Horary question must be personal and pressing so rather than ask general Natal horoscopes questions or tarot readings, in Horary Astrology, you must ask simple clarifying questions that apply to specific situations in which you need an immediate and verifiable answer.

Before asking the question, consider the following points:

  • If the question is insincere, then the astrologer will see this and may refuse to consult, simply because there will be no answer on the Horary chart.
  • If you already know the answer to the question you are asking, there's no point asking it.
  • The question does not always have to start with "Will” contrary to many beliefs. It may be a time question, like "when will I get a new job?" or a search question, "Where will I find the lost ring," or a present-time question, "what is the hidden reason for the failure of the marketing plan?", or a process-related question "How will our relations develop with time?"
  • Questions about death and after life should be avoided.
  • Does the question pertain to you? Other people’s questions shouldn’t be asked. Horary questions must be personal.
  • Is the question about a situation you have tried to solve? You must have already tried to solve the situation on your own before asking. - Horary astrology can answer not only questions about the future but also the past and present, for example, "who and when killed this person?" or "who currently in the company is secretly orchestrating the merger deal."

The Moon: The game changer in Horary Astrology

Planets are the main elements in Horary astrology. They are known as ‘significators.’ They represent items, people, conditions, objects, states, places, living beings and processes. For example, a planet can show a person - a brother or sister. It can show a condition - a pregnancy or illness. It can show a place- a room or a building. It can show a phenomenon- a profession or company. It can also show a process - a trip or a project.

Just as the Sun is an important factor in Natal Astrology, the Moon is also an important planet in Horary Astrology but she does not play a greater role than other planets. She is one of several significators in Horary astrology.

When reading a Horary chart, the interactions between two or three significators are considered to get interpretation. Therefore, the interactions between the Moon and other significators should be considered before getting an answer to any questions. These considerations includes;

  • The last aspect of the Moon before a question is asked should also be considered because it gives an important clue to finding answers. For instance, if a querent asks, “where is my missing bag?”, if Moon shows the querent and it has the last aspect with the planet of the bag, it could indicate that no one stole the bag. Querent just left it somewhere.
  • When the Moon shows the flow of events and makes lots of contact on the way, any process in question (a football game or political election) will be intensive. If the Moon has no contacts in the next 10 degrees, a process will keep its status quo - nothing will change.
  • The Moon changing a sign means the querent shortly will change his mind about the subject of the question.
  • The Moon is between 15 degrees of Libra up to 15 degrees of Scorpio. This path is called 'via combusta'. The querent is in deep emotional turbulence when the Moon is on via combusta. All of these and more, make the Moon the game changer in Horary astrology.

Factors that can rule out the Judgment of a Horary Chart:

The Horary chart or map is able to predict future events by showing the querent’s unconscious motives at any given time. These unconscious motives are what drives the everyday decisions of the querent that inevitably leads to predictable events, for instance, getting a new job, having a baby, relocating, and so on.

The astrologer is able to skip all of these querent’s micro-decisions to see the final results - the situation, event, time and location of the eventual outcome via the Horary chart.

Before ruling out the judgment of a Horary map, the astrologer must check the map for radicality. The map is said to be radical if it contains the details of an existing situation and provides information about the development of the situation as well as the future events of the situation.

To be considered radical, there are few factors or techniques in the arsenal of the horary chart that can show motives of the querent. These factors are:

  • Selection by Reception

The first thing to note is that the planets that rule over the mind of the querent will indicate what is prominent for the querent at that particular moment.

Thus, reception shows what the querent is involved in and what occupies his thoughts and feelings.

  • The Position of the Planet of the Querent in the House

It is an ancient rule that if the planet is in a particular house and it shows a person, it indicates a great interest of the person in the affairs of the house, in particular to the querent.

Therefore, the house where the ruler of the ASC or the Moon’s position will show what is currently of great importance to the querent.

  • Position of the Part of the Fortune

The Arabian part of Fortune shows the deepest desires of the querent. Thus, the house in which Fortune or its dispositor is will show an object or circumstance currently of great importance to the querent.

To determine this, the program for calculating and analyzing the choral chords (The OLGA astroprocessor) independently calculates the disposition of fortune, the house it manages, and the house in which the Fortune is located in.

  • Conjunctions with other Planets

The querent is said to be in conjunction with another planet when the querent’s planet or fortune is in close connection with another object.

Therefore, this object occupies a significant position in the life of the querent and there's a great chance that the object becomes important in the context of the issue, since the map points out this planet.

In order to determine this, we take account:

  • A bodily connection of the querent with the planets.
  • A combustion by the Sun. If the planet of the querent is combusted, it means it is "blinded" by the Sun and nothing but the Sun itself. Thus, the Sun (and what it means in the map) is of great importance to the querent.
  • A bodily connection of Fortune with planets. Since Fortune shows the deep motives of the querent, the connection of Fortune with the planets means there is a deep motive of the certain object.
  • Conjunctions with the House Cusp

If the querent or Fortune conjunct the house cusp (tops of houses), which rarely happens, this indicates a strong interest of the querent in the affairs of that house and this is a separate sign of radicality.

Hence, if the querent or Fortune falls on the top of the house (in the same sign and at a distance of no more than 5 degrees (should be 5 degrees), it indicates a particular interest in the affairs of this house. Planets but not Fortune can connect with the cusp of houses not only bodily but also by antiscia.

Additionally, If the actual circumstances the querent describes are directly confirmed in the chart, this is an additional sign of radicality. Any direct correspondences will help in establishing radically.

Finally, in order to rule out a true judgment of a horary chart ( radicality ), practice shows that it is necessary to have at least two indicators of radicality.
